About this website
An indigenous Australian is a person who is a descendant of an indigenous inhabitant of Australia. This includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Indigenous people have suffered greatly throughout history. They have overcome some great hurdles which have challenged their communities, however indigenous people are still greatly disadvantaged in today's society.
This website draws on the contemporary issues facing indigenous Australians and signifies the importance of education in bridging inequalities between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians. This includes integrating indigenous perspectives into Australian schools and improving education for underprivileged indigenous children. |
